My Health Journey

When I was 15 years old my daily routine was swim practice, school, swim practice, sleep, REPEAT. And, in between all of that my mom tried to feed me the best she could.  The problem was that we didn’t know what we didn’t know and after years of doing our best with my nutrition plan, my body began to breakdown.  And although I was an Olympian, training for the sport that I loved became really hard for me.

I was tired all the time.  I struggled to recover from my workouts.  My stamina and energy at practices were inconsistent. I struggled to add muscle and stay lean.  Perhaps you’ve seen this with your athlete?

If I only knew then what I know now…Little did I know that I was struggling from many nutrient deficiencies and food allergies that were depleting me.  Unfortunately, I found out too late and my time in sports had ended.  The sad thing is that these deficiencies could’ve been avoided had we understood some of the foundational nutrition concepts that I now teach.

 

Hi, I’m Anita!

I’m a Functional Nutrition & Wellness Expert who had to go through a major health breakdown to understand the power of food. Following my Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and World Records in the 1992 Olympic Games, life as I knew it came to a screeching halt.

The elite, Olympic-level body I once experienced was gone, and fatigue, despair, and chronic illness had taken its place during a decade of “mystery illnesses” that followed my Olympic debut. There were days I’d sleep for 13 hours and still wake up exhausted. I experienced chronic sinus infections, colds, flus, and body aches.

The Struggle was Real!

I went to every major health institution in the U.S. and got no answers for almost 10 years!

Chronic sickness became my new normal. I was on one antibiotic after the other with ZERO success.

The Lesson

All of my suffering during that time wasn’t for nothing. I learned that without our health and vitality, we have nothing!

Other than diagnosing me with chronic fatigue syndrome, doctors couldn’t help me. With unrelenting determination, I set out to resolve my own health problems.

I didn’t understand it then, but my endless drive to get to the bottom of my own health issues gave birth to my life purpose: to help others feel and perform their best in work, sport, and life. To help others maximize their health & performance is my passion.

When I started making the connection between what I ate and how I felt, my health began to change.

I grew up on Fruity Pebbles, fish sticks, and my mom’s chicken pot pie – a very standard American upbringing. I had to go through a major transformation, a mindset shift, and much more to recover my health, which gave me the ability to help others make that same shift.

Through my programs and signature Power Plate Formula® for mealtime success, I give busy, high performers (like you) practical and applicable steps to improve your food plan… that don’t require calorie counting or hours spent at the gym.

CALORIE COUNTING IS ANTIQUATED & DOESN’T WORK!

Wait, what do I do to stay fit if I’m not exercising for hours/day. Not only was I sick for 10 years, but when I retired from swimming I had to figure out a way to stay fit without all the crazy hours of exercise. I hated running and always had sore knees after AND I wasn’t feeling well enough to spend a lot of time on exercise back then.

I created a system, that when followed, reduces gym time and has you feeling the best you’ve ever felt in your life (no matter what age). Maintaining a healthy food plan isn’t always easy, especially for high-performers who are always on the go. I teach my clients formulas and systems that work for busy schedules and real-life challenges (busy family life, corporate travel, high level sports performance)

 

My Life in 6 Pictures

I am a mother of two active sports kids (16 and 18 years old) and wife. I am a hard-working entrepreneur who understands the struggles of a busy, modern-day life and the challenges of being healthy in it.

I love all things related to nutrition, functional health, and wellness, and, although my list of athletic accomplishments is lengthy, my greatest achievement to this day is my vibrant health. I love Latin Dancing and getting in nature with my family and French Bulldogs named Randall & Pearl.

I am a lifelong seeker of optimal health, and my journey to be a champion perseveres long after sport. I love helping people achieve optimal health and increased performance.

THE OFFICIAL BIO

Anita swept the cycle (gold, silver, and bronze) at the 1992 Olympics, is an Elite member of the ISHOF and has spent three NFL seasons as a Nutrition Consultant. Challenged by a series of “mystery illnesses” following the 1992 Olympics, Anita rediscovered her health through food. After working with top-tier high-performers like athletes and corporate executives for 12 years, Anita founded Champion Power Programs, where she teaches and coaches other high-performers on how to reach and stay at the top of their game using her signature Power Plate Formula® and other strategies for sustained health and success.
